Kindergarten Programs

Westside Montessori School offers both half day and full day Kindergarten programs for our students in the year that they turn 5 years old. This is the final, and most important year, in the completion of the Three Year Montessori Foundation Program. The mixed aged classrooms enable students in their Kindergarten year to cultivate their leadership skills, hone their academic abilities and delve deeper into social and academic pursuits.

The Half Day Kindergarten Program

Students registered in the half day Kindergarten Program attend 5 half days of school (Monday through Friday). On Monday through Thursday, they participate in either the morning class or afternoon class and, on Fridays, they attend the morning Enrichment Program.

The Extended Day Kindergarten Program

Students who attend Extended Day Kindergarten are at WMS for four and a half days a week.

Monday through Thursday, students attend class for the whole day (two three hour class periods with a supervised lunch block in between). Children who participate in the first floor classroom in the morning, move to the second floor classroom for the afternoon and vice versa.

On Fridays, the Kindergarten students all attend the Friday morning Enrichment Program.

WMS Kindergarten Capstone Year

Each year of the WMS Montessori program builds on the skills and knowledge acquired in earlier years. The learning that takes place in the Kindergarten year is the final component and solidification of the expertise that they have achieved. It solidifies the key skills, academic and personal growth that they child has been building towards in their previous two years.

The Kindergarten year is the final year in a child's most formative period and the opportunity to develop their leadership, mentorship, academic and interpersonal skills will never be as important to nourish as it is during this time.

Tuition

The tuition costs for both half day and full day Kindergarten reflect the cost of the student spaces in the classroom. For instance, the half day Kindergarten program uses one half day classroom space and one Enrichment placement, while the full day Kindergarten uses two half day classroom spaces and one Enrichment placement.
